Welcome to Camp Character
Camp Character is fully committed to developing life and social skills, confidence, and character for children with special needs. Family Foundations Minnesota is accredited with the American Camp Association. Our camp focuses on building communication, trust, self-control, transition skills, teamwork, self-advocacy, and much more. Camp Character is an outdoor based, hands-on camp that allows children of all needs an opportunity to develop their abilities.

Skill Development
Friendship: Develop skills of personal introductions, communication, and sharing.
Trust: Define trust through small group discussion, ropes course activities, and bridging prior experiences.
Conflict Resolution & Anger Management: Cultivate awareness resolving conflicts peacefully using communication, body language, and verbal skills. Identify triggers for anger and role play positive expression.
Communication: Identify body language, verbal and nonverbal, and active listening skills.
Transition and Self-Advocacy: Identify services in the community for transition. Understand IEP services, work based learning, and to asses skills for future vocation and independent living.
Leadership and Teamwork: Apply communication, trust, friendship, and strengths to serving others.
Health & Fitness: Instill self-control, discipline, healthy choices, and increase personal fitness levels.
Etiquette: Acquire and practice manners, social skills, and self-confidence.
Personal Strengths: Identify individual strengths and apply them in daily life. Increase self-confidence and personal growth.
Service: Identify needs in the home or community setting. Practice compassion and self-reliance.
