Youth Served
Camp Character is a top resource for parents of children with special needs, and a special emphasis is also on youth in the foster care system or who have been adopted at an older age. Click here to view a video on our unique approach to camp. Through our compassionate and caring staff, all youth ages 7-18 with disabilities are welcome. Camp Character splits youth into three groups: Boys ages 12 and up, girls ages 12 and up, and younger youth working together. The meals and some activities will be served together as a large group, but smaller groups will be incorporated for discussions, teaching times, and friendship building throughout each day. The older youth will facilitate some of the activities for the younger campers to practice leadership skills and communication.
Your child will learn:
- Communication & Cooperation
- Teamwork
- Problem Solving
- Life Skills
- Anger Management
- Transition Skills
- Many more!
Whether a student has been diagnosed with a more severe disability or is struggling with behaviors in school, our camp will tailor the curriculum and provide a safe and nurturing environment for your child to grow.
Activities are learned through:
- Hands-on Activities
- Role Plays
- Group Discussion
- Team building
- Individual Reflection
- Low Ropes Initiatives
- High Ropes Elements
